Sari

Sari Gueron's mission is to meld innovation with true ease. Sari grew up in Fairfield County, Connecticut, in a multicultural, close family. The tomboyish sister of two brothers, as a child, Sari preferred jeans and T-shirts to dresses, and it was this early insistence on fuss-free and comfortable clothes that today defines the way she seeks to reinvent womenswear.

At Rhode Island School of Design, Sari studied fashion design, first becoming interested in the construction of the dress - a seemingly simple garment which in fact presented infinite possibilities and, for Sari, came to represent the purest essence of the craft of tailoring. With an inkling of her future direction beginning to form in her mind, Sari graduated from RISD in 1997, and interned and worked for John Galliano, Robert Danes, and Oscar de la Renta.

In the few years following her launch, Sari has continued to explore the idea of day-to-evening dressing. Her gowns have received a lot of attention, thanks in part to their popularity among young actresses such as Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Michelle Williams, Gretchen Mol, Chloe Sevigny, and Michelle Monaghan, all of whom favor a more independent approach to the red carpet.

To Sari, the manipulation of fabric is a constant source of inspiration as she expands her label, bringing the same subtle cool but consummate attention to detail to jackets, skirt, and tops, as her signature dresses. Sari is constantly inspired by her own life and the lives of her friends - successful, creative young women - and the challenge of truly flattering the body remains integral to her take on modern American fashion.
